Volunteer’s Needed for Christmas Project
Christmas Baskets will be assembled / distributed on the weekend of December Friday, Dec. 13 to Sunday, Dec. 15. beginning that Friday. There is much work and volunteers are needed to assist. For more information, please contact Carol Smith, Project Coordinator at 410-0504. Thank you for your willingness to help out.
From the Pastor
I have encouraging news. About 5 weeks ago I made a plea for help after we received bills totaling $17,616.54 for additional costs in connection with the new roof over the back of the church. As of Friday, Nov. 22nd 33 families have responded. Their donations total $11,545.
Thank you for your goodness! Your contributions thus far will pay about 65% of this work! We still hope to hear from others who can contribute to this cause.
Advent Confessions
In preparation for Christmas we have added an extra confession time. Besides the usual Saturday 4 p.m. time, confessions will be offered each Advent Sunday from noon until 12:30 p.m. In addition, toward the end of Advent, there will be an area-wide Penance Service at St. Anthony Church in Fredonia on Monday, Dec. 6th at 7 p.m. On that occasion, a number of priest confessors will be present.
Advent Evening Prayer Tonight
This Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. there will be a short Advent Evening Prayer in the Adoration Chapel with meditative music, scripture and prayer.
New Adoration Hours Effective this Week
Beginning immediately, the hours for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be reduced both on Tuesdays and on First Fridays. Adoration will start, as before, after the 7 am morning mass and will now end with Benediction at noon.
Reflective Advent Evening
This Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Carol Mullins of Quiet Whispers Ministry will present a musical meditation on the Advent scriptures here in our Church. Carol is an experienced speaker and parish lay minister who was much appreciated when she presented here previously. Come join us. A social will follow in the adoration room.
