SEAS Parish News
Total Upon This Rock Disbursements
The most recent transfer of $2,806.99 into our parish account, as reported last week, means that the parish has now received $65,853.24 from the Upon This Rock Campaign. Our last bulletin listed how the funds have been used or will shortly be put to good use. Your gifts and pledges are making a concrete difference in our parish life. It should be noted that in addition to direct disbursements of 35% of the total received by the diocese, our parish will also greatly benefit indirectly as a result of various diocesan projects intended to strengthen parish ministries. You need not fear that pledge payments will be used for settlements or legal fees associated with the sex abuse scandal. These funds are designated for specific parish purposes and so they cannot be diverted for other uses.
Stop Hunger: Meal Packing Event
A Meal Packaging Event will be held on Sunday, Sept. 22nd, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church Community Room, 25 Church St. in Fredonia. Join in an extremely rewarding event with church members working alongside those of various other congregations, students from the University and other neighbors etc. The organizers hope to raise $5,000 which will permit the packaging of over 14,000(!) meals. For further information, contact Mary Cole at 672-9788.
Faith Formation News
It is crucial that children and youth attend parish faith formation sessions on Sunday mornings during the school year. Sessions will begin September 22nd at 9:15 a.m. Without proper formation, children cannot receive Eucharist or Confirmation. Keep in mind that when there is a long weekend, such as for a holiday, faith formation classes are not held that weekend. Last year, once a month, we began to reach out to families as a whole. At the beginning of each month, there will be an opportunity to come as a family and learn about a facet of our faith over a simple meal. Parents are encouraged to supplement and reinforce the materials that their child studies by going to the religious education website: www.seasred.weebly.com. For more information, see the website, just mentioned, or contact the coordinator, Natalie Hoebener at seasred@outlook.com or 366-2827.
Summer Social Next Weekend After Mass
Join us next Sunday after the 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. mass next weekend, stay to enjoy summer, coffee, a pastry and parishioners.

Our annual celebration with heritage potluck dinner on Sat. Sept. 14th at 6 p.m. is now less than a month away. Be sure to send in your response using the tear-off in this weeks bulletin or by notifying the rectory not later than Monday, September 9th. Meanwhile consider making a theme basket to be raffled off at the dinner. All attending will receive a free raffle ticket. This year we hope for 20 theme baskets. If you can donate a theme basket, call the parish office at 366-1750. For questions about the celebration; contact Marsha Miller at 366-4268.
