SEAS Parish News
From the Pastor
Church Law wisely requires that each parish have a dedicated finance council to advise the pastor concerning financial matters. SEAS Finance Council met regularly until early spring 2018. At that point I was temporarily removed from ministry. While I was away, Dan Hillman resigned his position of finance secretary leaving a crucial office post vacant. Since we lacked a suitable employee with sufficient expertise in parish books, much time has passed since the finance council last met.
Now that Erin Herling is working with us and is more comfortable with the diocesan finance software used to track finances, we expect a more comprehensive picture of parish finances shortly. This will enable a newly constituted council to begin meeting. There will be an organization meeting of the finance council this month. They will review our current situation and make a recommendation concerning three proposals for a new roof covering the area over the side entrances, crying room, sacristy and the passageway to the rectory. We had previously set aside some returns from the Upon this Rock Campaign for that purpose.
I will keep the parish informed as things progress.
-Fr Dennis Riter
50th Anniversary of Ordination
We congratulate Fr. Richard DiGiulio who will celebrate 50 years of priesthood on June 30th at St. John the Baptist Church, 2021 Sandridge Rd. in Alden, NY. The Golden Jubilee mass will be held at 1 pm. All are invited.
Easter Sacraments to Be Conferred Today
Four older youth from the parish will receive sacraments today at either the 11 am or 2:30 pm mass: They are: Jelissa Nicole Collier, Erica Rojas, and Flavio Vega. We appreciate the dedication of Natalie Hoebener and Marcia Miller who helped to prepare them.
Also today at the 2:30 pm mass, 3 Spanish speaking adults, Fernando Rodriguez Martinez, Nereida Hernandez, and Carlos Hernandez Santiago will receive the Eucharist for the first time and /or the sacrament of confirmation. Fr Dennis Riter met with them to prepare them for this day.
Please keep all of them in your prayer that Christ may become the center of their lives.
