Confirmation for Adults
Preparation sessions for adult confirmation will begin soon for adults who wish to complete their initiation into the Church. The five sessions will be led by Fr. Dennis and should take about an hour on each occasion. They will be held in the rectory.
English sessions will take place on Monday evenings at 7pm beginning on October 27. Spanish sessions will be held on Sunday afternoons at 4 pm beginning on October 19.
Please call Fr. Dennis in advance at 366-1750 if you will be attending these sessions.
Men’s Conference
There will be a morning conference sponsored by the Adult Formation Committee on Saturday, Nov. 1st. Registration starts at 8:30 am at Northern Chautauqua Catholic School. The registration fee is only $5 and includes coffee and homemade pastries and a luncheon after the conference. To pre-register, call 366-5299.
The topic will be “Living as Men, Loving for God.” Deacon Matt Hens of St. Joseph Parish in Fredonia will give the presentation. Matt is active in Cursillo, prison ministry, the pro-life movement, and youth ministry. He just came back from Uganda. This day affords an opportunity to feed body and soul along with other Catholic Men.
Unanticipated Special Second Collection
There will be a special second collection for the Church in the Middle East next weekend. The extent of suffering and damage to churches and church programs due to violence in Iraq, Syria and Gaza is a tremendous burden on Christians and other victims of violence in the region. Bishop Malone just came back from this area. He, along with his fellow bishops, urgently request that the parishes of the diocese conduct a special second collection to provide humanitarian relief and pastoral support for our affected brothers and sisters in the Middle East.
