January 4th is the Memorial of our Patroness St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (1774 – 1821) Last year the National Shrine in Emmitsburg, Maryland celebrated the 200th anniversary of Mother Seton’s death on January 4, 2021. The shrine and the sisters of Charity kicked off a yearlong national celebration of her life and legacy. Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton was the first American to be canonized by the Catholic Church.
