Come Out of Your Slumber
We as Catholic Christians need to wake up and allow the Holy Spirit to work within and without. We can no longer internalize our belief in Christ and His holy Catholic Church. We have been and continue to be so deeply blessed with truth.
Going to Mass and participating with all that we are and nourished by the word and our Dear Lords Body and Blood, we are sent out to spread the Gospel. Wow, what great privilege we are given!! We just need the courage to step out of our comfort zone into the world outside, where so many of our people are going and not returning.
We need to discern our particular calling in Christ. We all need to figure out what gifts were given to us to help spread the good news. Some of us are great at; speaking, music, study, art, technology and so much more. All gifts no matter how insignificant they may seem is all for the glory of God.
If we look around at Mass there happens to be an enormous emptiness. That emptiness is very disturbing to me and I am sure for others including our Holy Priests. We lay people need to step up and do what most of us haven’t fulfilled, since our Confirmation, when we became soldiers of Christ. When we hear the word soldier, we think uniform, weapons, camouflage, foreign land and death…what does soldier mean to us?
Reflection:
Our uniform is invisible to the eye of the body but very visible with the eye of the soul, it is the Holy Spirit. Our weapons are the strength of prayer. Our camouflage is our outside looks just like every other human being but internally we carry our sweet Jesus to every human we encounter. Our foreign land is when we step out of the Church doors to do Gods work. Our death can never happen!! We have eternal life in Christ!!
This crucifix we gaze at with a bloody, mangled and crowned body of our love brings us to our knees. The thought is, why Lord would you allow such horror to engulf you. Why? We are nothing! You are everything!! Our soul gazes beyond this physical place into the invisible and recognize your love for us. A love without words, but a love that is perfection is who you are. Please inspire in our souls the ability to live out what you need us to do to lead your people home and to deeper conversion of heart.
We can do what needs and has to be done for our God and His One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. We need to pray and take action. Study our faith, learn and live it out to the very fullest. Get out of our living room and off our iPhone and take the fire of the Holy Spirit with us and use our gifts to evangelize our people who have lost the truth.
